11 Nov 01 - Scampton - Guy Gibson and the Dams Busters. 12 NUMBERED & ISSUEDSpecial Cover depicts Flt LT Joe Mc Carthy attacking the Sorpe dam in Lancaster AJ.T 17 May 1943 with 617 Dambuster Badge.McCarthy was the Commander in Formation 2 of the Dams raid under the Wing Commander Guy Gibson. He was the only member of the five plane formation to reach the Sorpe dam and at the third attempt his aircraft 'T for Tom' almost hit the water, he then drew a perfect bead and the bomb exploded against the dam wall. McCarthy was born in the USA. Signed by Warrant Officer Reginald Blagdon. Air Gunner with 61& 617 Sqdns. His operations were carried out in Europe. Aircraft flown Blenheim,Wellington,Lancaster, Liberator,Dakota.

17 April 2002 BFPS 2679 60th Anniversary of the Augsburg Raid.Special Lancasters of 44 Sqn ( Nettletons ) & 97 Sqn. Flown in Lancaster Signed by Wg Cdr K.H.H.Cook DFC . Navigator / Radar Operator with 97 Sqn , part of the pathfinder force, equipped with Lancasters. certified copy of 300
personally handsigned by Wing Commander Rod Rodley DSO DFC* AFC, who was the pilot of one of the six No 97 Squadron Lancasters that took part in the Augsburg Raid for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).Rodley joined the RAFVR in 1937 and was commissioned and posted to Bomber Command in 1941. Joining 97 Squadron he flew Manchesters before converting to Lancasters in early 1942 and taking part in the Augsberg raid for which he received a DFC. At the end of 1942 he was posted to RAF Scampton instructing aircrew to convert to Lancaster bombers. He rejoining 97 Squadron at Bourn as a Pathfinder and after a spell at Warboys as an instructor he took command of 128 Squadron at Wyton, flying Mosquitoes as part of the Light Night Striking Force. He finished the war having completed 87 operations
handsigned by Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Michael Beetham GCB CBE DFC AFC DL FRAeS, President of the Bomber Command Association and a former pilot with No 50 Squadron, being award the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944. He also served with Nos 35 and 57 Squadrons, and took part in Operation Lancaster when the Lancasters of No 35 Squadron flew a goodwill tour of the USA in July 1946
as above but signed by Wing Commander R M Horsley DFC AFC who as a Pilot Officer took part in the first 1000 bomber raid as the Wireless Operator / Air Gunner of Pilot Officer Leslie Manser's Manchester L7301 'VN-D' which successfully reached and bombed the target. After being hit repeatedly over the target the aircraft sustained serious damage, but Manser attempted to get the Manchaster to RAF Manston, however over Belgium orders were given to bale out. After successfully evading capture Horsley reached home in July 1942. He later trained as a pilot and completed his second tour of Operations with 617 squadron flying Lancasters. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving with No 50 Squadron in 1942.

17 May 2003 BFPS 2723 VC Awarded to Wing Commander G P Gibson The Dams Busters Signed by Sqn Ldr G L Johnson DFM Sgt G L Johnson took part in Operation Chastise as the bomb Aimer on Flt Lt Joe McCarthys Lancaster ED932 AJ T which attacked the Sorpe Dam. For his part in the Dam Raids he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal.Certified Copy of 300 Signed project Officer.
