Won Victoria Cross. Edwards was CO 105 Sqn.On July 4th 1941 flying a Blenheim 1V , V6028 GB D, with his crew pilot Officer Ramsay ( Navigator ) and Sgt G Quinn DFC ( Air Gunner ), he led 15 Blenheins flying at 50 to 100ft, across the North Sea, 12 aircraft eventually crossed the German border and headed towards Bremen, flying in excellent visibility, a mixed blessing for the bomber crew. They ran into a wall of tracer and shellfire on their approach to their target. Flying at between 50 to 100ft they flew through flak, balloon cables and telephone wires before releasing their bombs over the centre of the dock area. Several aircraft were lost and the reminder suffered various degrees of damage, and many of the survivors returned home trailing telephone wires round wings and tailplanes. On 22nd July , Edwards was awarded a Victorie Cross for displaying the highest possible standard of gallantry and determination whilst his crew members, Ramsay received the DFC and Quinn a bar to his DFM

Signed by Nobuo Fujita, the only Japanese pilot who flew bombing runs over Oregon in 1942,Catapulted in their Seaplane off the 30 foot deck of a small Japanese Submarine Apparently the only time that an enemy aircraft has ever bombed the American mainland, Mr. Fujita, whose incendiary bombs set off forest fires in Oregon's coastal range, played the key role in a quixotic plan by Japanese military commanders to put pressure on America's home turf in World War II. The idea was that the United States Navy would then be obliged to retreat from the Pacific to protect the West Coast.Details enclosed
