Trained at No.7 ITS (graduated 31 July 1942) and No.2 AOS (graduated 25 November 1942). Commissioned 1943. Flying Officer Daniel has taken part in numerous sorties and has proved himself an outstanding member of aircraft crew. In September 1944 he was the air bomber of one of a bomber force which attacked the German battleship Tirpitz. In October 1944 he took part in an attack on the sluice gates at Kems Barrage.Plus 2 more. Unknown at this time Any Help ???

15 Jun 76 BFPS 1532 40th Anniversary of the Wellington Special Signed by Sir Barnes Wallis.As assistant Chief designer at Vickers - ArmstrongsAviation Section his many contributions included the bouncing bombs used by 617 Squadron to breach the Mohne and Eder Dams in 1923,the 12,000 lb tallboy penetration bomb and 10 ton grand slam bomb as well as the mine - detonating electric coil fitted below Wellingtons.numbered and Certified signed by the project officer.

At the time was the senior surviving member of No 617 Squadron's attack on the dams . He was a Pilot for 617 Sqn in the raid Mohne dam awarded DSO for this action,In 1970 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief RAF Germany and finally, in 1973, Air Member for Personnel Certified Copy 0054 of 1310.
1 Apr 86 70th Anniversary of No 38 Sqn Flown cover Flown in HS 125 of 32 Sqn from RAF Northolt to Edinburgh and return. This aircraft flew to Edinburgh carrying the Prime Minster and party. Personally Signed by Wing Commander David J Shannon DSO Dambuster Pilot 617 Sqn. started his operations with 106 Squadron where he took part in one of the early 1000 Bomber raids, and also in the low level attacks on specific targets, flying Lancasters. He was awarded a DFC after completing 36 operations. David continued to serve in 5 Group with Nos 106 & 617 Squadrons, being continuously operational from June 42 until July 44.He was awarded a DSO for his part in the famous Dams Raid raid operation Chastise May 16/17 1943, he ended his war service on Mosquitoes and added bars to his DSO and DFC Certified Copy No 949 of 995.

as above buy Signed by Sqn Ldr G L Johnson DFM Sgt G L Johnson took part in Operation Chastise as the bomb Aimer on Flt Lt Joe McCarthys Lancaster ED932 AJ T which attacked the Sorpe Dam. For his part in the Dam Raids he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal.

Operation Chastise May 16/17 1943. On the 2nd Wave with Lancaster ED921, 'AJ-W', which sustained heavy flak damage, and with the Wireless and Intercom rendered unserviceable was forced to return back to base. Munro was awarded his DFC whilst serving with 97 Squadron prior to his tour with 617 Squadron. He was awarded the DSO whilst with 617 Squadron. Flight Lieutenant John Leslie Munro born 1919 New Zealand. Awarded DFC 11th June 1943, DSO 28th April 1944. He was a Flight Commander of 617 Squadron under Leonard Cheshire & James Tait with David Shannon and Joe McCarthy
17 Ap 92 Bury St. Edmunds CDS Postmark 50th Anniv First Major Bombing Raid by Avro Lancaster Aircraft .Special Lancaster cover Friday 17 April 1932 Lancasters of 44 & 97 Sqn. bombed M.A.N.diesel- engine works Augsberg,Germany First Announcement of Lancasters existence made public. Personally Signed by Ken Trent DFC & Bar Served as a Pilot with 576, 625, 617 Sqns from mid 1944 and completed 47 operations flying Lancasters before being posted to 617 Sqn during February 1945. He then completed a further 10 operations with 617 which consisted mainly flying Lancaster B1 Specials carrying 22,000 IB bombs. Some of his exploits are described in Alan Coopers book published by Goodall entitled Beyond The Dams to the Tirpitz. These included the landing of a Lancaster ladened with a 22,000 Ib bomb.
